Peruse Arc’Teryx athlete Christina “Lusti” Lustenberger’s Instagram feed for a sure case of Powder Envy. Scroll further through stunning shots from Chamonix, British Columbia and Japan and realize that Lusti’s no stranger to earning turns.

The former alpine ski racer’s plowed well past groomers, dedicating her post-Olympic life to the backcountry. Now an ACMG assistant ski guide, Lusti advances women’s ski mountaineering with every ice ax swing and front-point. We caught up with Lusti to take us higher in 2015.

Athlete Profile:

Home Mountain: "Home is where you dry your boots." I love exploring “mountains…” not just one mountain. If I had to, I would call the Selkirk Range home!

Sponsors: Arc’teryx, Volkl, Marker

Favorite Piece of Gear: My skis, without ‘em skiing would not be as much fun. This season I am skiing on the Volkl 109 BMT – stoked!

Favorite Terrain: Steep Alpine for days!

Off-season outdoor passion: trail running, climbing and mountain biking seem to get me through the summers.

3 songs you’ve had on repeat lately: ohhh you know . . . the radio maybe? I am not music savy.

One celebrity (dead or alive) you would want to ski with: Hans Gmoser.  Steep rock, deep powder!

Lusti relies on Arc’Teryx outerwear, whether she’s guiding a team of expert adrenaline-seekers or soloing in the Selkirk Range. Grab this trio if “home is where you dry your boots.”

Arc’teryx Scimitar Jacket: Cutting Edge Coverage

Arc’teryx Scimitar Jacket

Straddling a jagged ridgeline, flecks of snow hurtling into your cheeks like frozen meteorites?  Core warmth is the game and Scimitar thrives in such “on-edge” situations. Crafted from waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX Pro, this articulated model suits women who demand packable performance, layering flexibility and a gender-specific cut. Add gusseted pits, a helmet compatible hood, adjustable cuffs, waterproof zippers, a RECCO avalanche reflector and six utilitarian pockets, and this Scimitar is honed for slicing backcountry lines.

Best for: Uncompromising adventurers

Sentinel Pant Women’s: Top-Of-The-Line

Arc'teryx Sentinel Pant

If “blizzard” is an understatement, Lusti uses Arc’teryx’s unobtrusive Slide n' Loc™ system to seal the Sentinel pants to the Scimitar jacket. Top-of-the-line N70p-X GORE TEX 3-Layer construction is deployed in this women’s specific cut.  Abrasion is a non-factor as Sentinel’s PowderCuffs (made of 100D Cordura) defend high-friction areas from irksome nicks and punctures. Ample pocket storage, double side zips and articulated knees multiply the Sentinel’s value.

Best For: Pairing with the Scimitar, backcountry touring

Cerium LT Hoody: Blowing Up In The BC

Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hoody

When it’s time to climb, Lusti throws down with the women’s Cerium LT Hoody.  This 850-fill down jacket is built with the backcountry in mind. Synthetic Coreloft™ insulation is strategically located in zones likely to contact moisture (hems, underarms, collar, etc.), while top-quality goose down surrounds the torso to maintain core temperature. Stuff Cerium LT into your pack for quick warmth anywhere.

Best For: A technical puffy for female backcountry skiers and mountaineers
