DC Snowboarding Hoodie, Softshell And Jacket: On-Snow Street Style

Very few companies have impacted boarding culture like DC. What started with a skate clothing and shoe company back in ‘94 has since grown to influence snowboarding, surfing and even motocross. There’s no doubt: the brand has fueled adrenaline-seekers exploits with technical and stylish products for over 20 years. DC’s latest line of snowboarding softshells, hoodies and jackets maintain the company’s core belief that style and performance should be inextricably linked.

Tempo Softshell Hoodie: Go Hard In This Softshell

DC Tempo Softshell Hoodie

You won’t hear a technical mountaineering company boasting about “3K waterproofing.” However, DC’s Tempo is snowboarding streetwear with technical properties; waterproof enough to shed spring slush, the 3K rating is fine by us. The fleecy interior is cozy, which allowed Colorado testers to rock only a t-shirt underneath during the frighteningly warm spell in January. Even though the Tempo shines from a style standpoint, every fashionable aspect serves a functional purpose, too. The angular lines of the pockets look stylish, but they also allow ergonomic access to wooly warmth. The unique hood bungees aren’t simply aesthetically pleasing, but they also cinch down should weather turn.  Throw in a hidden pocket on the wrist, an audio cord port and a metallic emblem over the chest and you’re on the right Tempo.

Best For: Everyday wear; rocking solo on warm days or under a shell on brisk ones

Snowstar Hoodie: The World’s Most Hospitable Hoodie

DC Snowstar Pullover Hoodie

Nothing beats the feeling of a brand new, clean and comfy hoodie. The Snowstar, however, is meant to be snug even as you get it dirty, from spring shredding missions to couch-sitting sessions in drafty cabins. “It’s unbelievably comfortable,” said one tester, his hands tucked into the zippered pockets. “And surprisingly water resistant.” Thank DC for adding the DWR coating, not to mention the ride-friendly thumbholes and audio port. While even those who don’t snowboard will appreciate the comfort and style of the Snowstar, DC’s decades of design expertise make this simple piece a rider’s dream pullover.

Best For: 24/7 comfort; on-hill outer layer on spring days

Tack Snow Jacket: Obvious Style, Unexpected Functionality

DC Men's Tack Snow Jacket Starting at: $102.88

The Tack is far from tacky. Clearly “denim-inspired,” this jacket is fashionable yet unpredictably waterproof. Metal buttons secure the khaki-mocking cotton/polyester/twill blend; unfasten them for a glimpse of a fun Hawaiian print taffeta liner. Testers wore the Tack from Denver urban sessions to Summit County park days and mountain town après events, beholden to the stylish yet functional design. “It sheds water but it doesn’t look at all like a snowboarding jacket,” said one tester, acknowledging the paradox responsible for his approval. “DC’s done it again.”

Best For: Park days, spring shredding, après style
