Description

Only one two-piece valve port allows for effective inflation and relatively easy deflation. Internal stabilizer construction disperses air and weight evenly so you’ll feel firmly in place even at full inflation. Superlight nylon rip-stop top and bottom also have a nice hand feel, or face feel. The large/long size is truly massive, weighing in at 24 ounces ($109.95). This Big Agnes sleeping pad works perfectly with the Big Agnes Sleep System, keeping your insulation on top of you instead of under you.

Universal Attributes

Performance: 4
It performed well for a big pad, though it’s not the highest performing backpacking pad, but that can depend on what sleeping bag you pair it with. It’s definitely not too big or heavy to carry, depending on your perspective and goals.

Design: 4.5
Like all BA pads, it’s well thought out, burly, dependable, and not over engineered.

Durability: 4.5
Definitely no issues under normal use, even while lounging for hours on rocks, sticks and wild rose thorns.

Innovation: 4.5
This pad is loaded with features that other pad makers would love to emulate.

Features: 4.5
Included repair kit, larger outer chambers, quilted top, I-beam construction, anti-microbial treatment, integrated heat reflective technology, “high volume valve,” aviation grade TPU lamination for durability all add to this pad’s stacked features.

Universal Tests

Comfort test: Oh yeah, this is the definition of comfort. The extra huffs and puffs required are worth a dreamy night’s sleep.

Weighted overnight test: No air loss even on colder nights.

Durability test: Extreme durability, which is a bonus with a pad this comfy.

Re-pack test: Follow the natural lines of the quilted baffles and fold into thirds, as long as the valve is open it rolls up easily and packs away almost exactly the way it came out of the box.

Inflation speed test: More than 70 breaths for this one so not for the faint of heart, or lung.

Packed size test: It’s a big pad in the large version, but the regular at 20" x 72" x 4" or even the wide at 25" x 72" x 4" is more manageable. But even the big boy doesn’t take up that much room in your pack. There’s also a 50” double wide, perfect for pairing with a doublewide sleeping bag. It’s three times the size of the Sea to Summit pads, but three times the comfort.
