Your feet want you here...

This is the best retailer for purchasing running shoes and gear locally or, if you must, online. I've been a runner most of my life, so I've been around the shoe buying circuit. Road Runner has an extensive selection and a "running-smart" staff, unlike other athletic "lockers". I've been to both locations in the greater Seattle area and have never been disappointed with the service I've gotten...and can be a pain in the arse to fit. Whether you are a veteran runner or a newbie, these folks with get you fitted correctly. They also have "Shoe Dog", a great way to evaluate your stride and strike to fit you with the best shoes and custom insoles if you desire. Their online purchasing is helpful as well. They have detailed descriptions of the shoes and an "idiot's" fitting guide. Sign up for their VIP membership and you can get benefits like being able to return shoes up to 90 days after purchase. THAT is awesome. I've only had to return one pair in the 7 years I've been patronizing them, but it was great to be able to do it when needed. Please your feet and check them out.

Does it get any better?

I was hesitant to return the new trail runners I had just purchased. I mean it had been raining and the mud was thick on my soles but, after a three week blister, I couldn't deny it any longer, these shoes weren't for me. All I had to do was ship them back, mud and all. I checked a box about them not fitting right and that was it, no making up stories, no hassle about refund, and especially no guilt. Just tape up the box, ship them back and try something else. I do have my eyes on a nice minimalist pair...
