Car Camping with the Eureka Tetragon 3

Eureka advertises its Tetragon 3 (as in 3-person and 3-season) tent as the ideal tent for the occasional camper. We couldn’t agree more. Whether you’re on a cross-country road trip, or just like to car camp on summer weekends, then this tent is for you.
With the Tetragon 3’s durable shock corded fiberglass frame, and color-coded attachments, you won’t need more than 10 minutes to set up. Bonus: it’s even faster taking down. The tent’s freestanding dome shape takes great advantage of the available space, offering a roomy 49-square-feet for three people to spread out their belongings. Better yet, if you’re packing light (or keeping gear in the car), this tent could easily sleep four.
You won’t need to worry about weather with this 3-season tent. Between the 75D 185T polyester taffeta walls and fly and the bathtub floor, you’ll be high and dry all night—make that multiple nights—long. It even comes with two fly rods that form an awning over the twin track, side-opening door to offer extra protection from the elements. If you’re worried about insects, Eureka’s got that covered too. The door has a no-see-um mesh and fabric panel that gives you the flexibility to ventilate without the bugs.
Our testers took the Tetragon 3 to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and came back with two words of praise: impenetrable fortress. There was more than enough room for three people and all of their festival gear, beer, and instruments. The best part: after the daily afternoon thunderstorms, everything was dry, which in turn, kept spirits high throughout the 4-day campout.
Warning: Do not take this tent backpacking. In fact, even packing in a mile might be pushing it. You will inevitably regret hauling its 6 lbs and 7 oz over the hills and through the woods—even if you split up the job.
