Trail Porn: Winter Park's Tresle Bike Park

Welcome to the second episode of trail porn! Mountain biking season is definitely in full swing, and the rainstorms in the mountains last week gave the resorts some welcome relief. Sand and chalk had the chance to sink into hardpack and mud, which makes for great mountain biking. Two weeks ago, Nick and I spent a day riding at Keystone. This past weekend, we took to the rain-soaked trails of Winter Park Resort to check out some of their terrain, and my 17 year old brother happened to join us as well. For reference, he has only been downhilling for two seasons and he was riding a 5"/5" travel XC trail bike - so if you've got the chops you can manage these runs too! Winter Park has some insanely fun trails and we spent the day ripping around the mountain to scope filming locations for an edit later in the season. Since we brought a GoPro with us, we managed to grab a few clips so you can see what the terrain is like.
Boulevard: Boulevard has a little bit of everything. It starts of with 100 feet of true rock garden and then launches you into miles of singletrack, complete with berms, jumps, tech sections, and big flowy lines across the front side of Winter Park.
RainMaker: JUMPS! Rainmaker is a huge top-to-bottom run filled with big berms, table top jumps, step-ups, and step-downs. The last clip of the video is on RainMake - Nick came into that berm fully torqued and his front tire got caught up in the loose gravel. Thankfully he walked away with little more than a slight ankle sprain.
Bear Arms: You gotta grab the bear by the horns on this one! Super technical (but not as rocky as Keystone), with lots of big rocks and tree roots littering the trail. The biggest challenge on Bear Arms is the trees. Aspens line this trail and sometimes you only have a foot or two of space between your handle bars to make it around corners.
Search and Seizure: My favorite run of the day. S&S winds through the woods from the summit and has a great combination of sweeping downhill berms, tight technical lines, and jumps. You can run this trail as fast as you want, the straightaways keep your speed in check and the high walls on the berms let you maintain speed into the next jump section.
