Sometimes a technical solution to a basic problem makes all the difference.

 THE FRUSTRATION

You’re warm and comfortable in your sleeping bag, but that lantern hanging from the ceiling of your tent is still on.

THE FIX

Eureka’s Warrior 230 IR LED lantern works with an infrared remote control, so you can turn it on or adjust its settings from up to 25 feet away. A hook on the bottom and additional hooks for the top handle let you hang the lantern from cabin or tent ceilings and let the lantern’s 230 lumens light up the area. Testers liked the ability to dim the lantern via the remote control, and the preset SOS blinking setting is a nice touch if you’re in the habit of getting yourself in trouble. Testers also dug the little LED flashlight on the remote control itself, with one tester adding that “it was handy for getting around the campsite when I left my headlamp in my tent.” One caution: at almost 2 pounds, this baby’s not made for backpacking. It’s handier for car camping or sleeping at the crags than it is for schlepping around the woods with a pack.
