Coal Headwear’s Winter Line

Coal Headwear’s Winter Line

Say nay to feeble cotton bandanas. Recycle your drab balaclavas; cut them up and sew them into tea cozies—whatever those are. Our point is this: chances are your current neck warmers, balaclavas and beanies are lacking (if only when compared to the stylish reliability coming from Coal).

Active Junky’s been rocking this Coal gear all winter long (we actually started testing them this summer in the Chilean Andes), and we couldn’t be more stoked. Or warmer. Take a peep, gear up and get down.

Coal UHB

Ahh… The satisfaction of a simple idea, perfected. The helmet-wearers among us occasionally tend to forgo the complete coverage of the balaclava, citing bulkiness as a reason to leave ‘em behind. But behold! The UHB (Under Helmet Balaclava)! A balaclava designed specifically for the head cases out there.

Essentially, the UHB is a super-fine liner of a beanie with an attached fleecy neckwarmer. Instead of having to rely on a combination of the two, the UHB eliminates moving parts—as well as any chance of pow creeping down your neck. Available in several colorways, the UHB is a new Active Junky favorite.

Coal Micro Tech Fleece Neck Gaiter

This is Coal’s take on the classic neck gaiter, but with a micro-tech fleece that’s both more comfortable and warmer than most synthetics on the market. A logo pops off the top and the Micro Tech Gaiter is available in several colorways. Truly, there’s not much to say here: it’s a fairly priced, quality take on a classic. What more can you ask for in a gaiter?

Coal Knit Balaclava

If you’re in need of mid-winter steeze, look no further. The Knit Balaclava sports vertical stripes, a narrow yet goggle-friendly eye slit and a thick weight that’s going to keep you warm on even the frostiest of pow days. Whether you’re a park rat or a powderhound, the stylish, versatile coverage offered by the Knit Balaclava is definitely worth considering. However, if you tend to get hot easily or are riding in a more temperate climate, you’ll be better off with a mellower, lightweight fit, like the Coal B.E.B. Light Mask.

Coal Shepherd Beanie

Not stoked on wearing that new balaclava 24/7? Don’t worry; the Shepherd Beanie’s got you dialed in—on and off the snow. Though on the expensive side, the mohair and acrylic blend is expertly woven into a distinctive pattern. Comfortable to the touch and warm in wintery conditions, you’re more shepherd than sheep with this one.
