Frequently Asked Questions
What is Active Junky?
Active Junky is a Cash Back site that puts money back in your pocket whenever you make a purchase at one of our 3000+ partner stores. All you have to do is create a free Active Junky account and click through one of our links before you shop. Then, when you do make a purchase, we will give you a percentage of the purchase price back via check, PayPal or Venmo.Let’s say you’re shopping for a ski jacket. You sign in to Active Junky and see that we’re offering 10% Cash Back at Patagonia. You click our Patagonia link, purchase a $500 ski jacket from Patagonia as you normally would, and we’ll send you $50 via check, PayPal or Venmo.
Where does the Cash Back come from?
Active Junky earns money through advertising partnerships with retailers and brands. When you sign in, click one of our links, and make a purchase at a partner store, that store pays us a commission on the sale. We keep a small portion of that commission and pass the majority back to you as Cash Back.
Why do I need to be an Active Junky member?
If you aren’t an Active Junky member, we can’t track your purchases at our partner stores. This means no commission for us, and no Cash Back for you.
How it Works

First, check the timing: has it been less than 24 hours since you made your purchase? It can take a full business day for partner stores to process your order and for Cash Back to appear in your Active Junky account. If it’s been more than 24 hours, here are the most common reasons why Cash Back may not have tracked:- Other discounts or sites were used: If you clicked through another coupon, Cash Back, or promotional email site before checkout, their link may have overwritten Active Junky’s tracking.
- Customer service orders: If you provided your credit card over the phone or through live chat with the retailer, we can’t track that purchase.
- Disallowed payments or discounts: Using rewards points, gift cards, or certain discounts may prevent Cash Back from being credited.
- Browser conflicts: Ad blockers or extensions like the Honey app can interfere with tracking. Please disable these before shopping through Active Junky.
- Credited to another publisher: Sometimes orders track to another partner (like Rakuten, Honey, or Capital One). If this happens, you can cancel or return your order and repurchase through Active Junky to ensure Cash Back applies.
- Exclusions apply: Not all items or categories are eligible for Cash Back. These exclusions are always listed on our store pages, so check carefully before completing your purchase.
If none of the above apply and you still don’t see Cash Back after 24 hours, feel free to contact us — we’re happy to help review your order. What should I do if it’s been a full business day and I still don’t see my Cash Back?
If you were signed in to Active Junky, clicked through one of our links before making your purchase, and a full business day has passed without the purchase showing in your account dashboard, please reach out to us. Simply submit an inquiry with your transaction details, and our customer service team will investigate and do everything we can to ensure you receive your Cash Back. What happens after I submit an inquiry?
Once we receive your transaction details, we file a claim with the retailer. The retailer must verify your purchase and confirm that it was tracked through an Active Junky link. Processing times vary by retailer, but on average it takes about 30 business days. We truly appreciate your patience during this process. If it’s been more than two weeks since you submitted your claim and you haven’t heard back, please email us at support@activejunky.com and include the ticket number from your original inquiry. We’ll do our best to help speed things up. Can I use other coupon and/or cash back sites along with Active Junky?
No. To earn Cash Back through Active Junky, you can’t combine our links with other coupon or cash back sites such as RetailMeNot, Honey, Capital One Shopping, or Rakuten. Retailers only pay one partner for the referral, and commissions are usually awarded on a “last click” basis—meaning whichever site you clicked through last will get credit for your order. Some coupon codes are also exclusive to other publishers, so using those will automatically assign credit to that partner instead of Active Junky. To make sure you get Cash Back with us, always start and finish your shopping directly through Active Junky without clicking other sites or extensions.
How long does it take for my Cash Back to show up in my Active Junky account?
Our confirmation email generally shows up within an hour, but it takes some retailers a full business day to process the transaction.
How long after my purchase can I make a Cash Back inquiry?
The timeframe for submitting a Missed Cash Back inquiry depends on the retailer. For most partners, you can submit an inquiry up to 90 days after your purchase date. However, some retailers only allow 30–60 days. If a retailer has a shorter window, you’ll find that noted in the Cash Back Guidelines section on their store page. Please note that we cannot submit inquiries more than 90 days after your purchase.
When do I get paid from Active Junky?
Payouts are issued on the 20th of each month. If the 20th falls on a weekend or holiday, payments will be sent on the next business day.
Why is my Cash Back pending?
Orders stay in pending status until they’re approved by our partner stores. While pending, they may still be subject to cancellations or reversals. We’ll show you an expected payment date (based on info from the retailer), but please note this date may change.- If the approval date is after the upcoming payout, your order will appear in the “Pending” box.
- If the approval date is before the upcoming payout, it will appear in the “Expected Payout” box.
Why is the Expected Payment Date listed as TBD?
If you’ve booked travel or an event (like a concert or sporting event), your Expected Payment Date may show as “TBD” because the partner doesn’t always provide us with the exact booking date. Once your travel or event has taken place and the partner approves the order, it will become eligible for payment in the next payout cycle. While timing can vary, partners typically approve these orders within about 3 months after the event.
What are Store Subscriptions?
Store Subscriptions let you follow your favorite stores in our mobile app so you never miss a deal. Just tap the ♡ icon on a store page, or the banner at the top after clicking through to one of our partner sites. Once subscribed, you’ll get notifications for Cash Back increases, special sales, and holiday events (like Black Friday or Labor Day).To manage your subscriptions, go to Account > Notification Settings > Push Notifications > Subscribed Stores.
