Conrad Anker and David Lama are two ends of the same rope. Conrad is 52 and rarely described in the climbing world without the use of the word, “legend.” David Lama is not yet 25 and his exploits on rock have already gained him not only the admiration of his peers, but also the respect of his heroes.
Both of these climbers, though at different pitches in their lives, are drawn to the unknown, the unclimbed, the impossible. Together, they send Latent Core, a route in Zion that Conrad attempted 25 years ago, before Lama was even born. They even managed to retrieve Conrad’s old, frayed rope that he left behind years ago.
Conrad mentions, in the clip, that they’ve talked about attempting some Himalayan peaks together in the future. We can only hope.
