Claudio Caluori is a beloved figure on the pro mountain biking circuit. His ability to simultaneously take a burly line while comically (and accurately) commentating on the experience is unparalleled. Most announcers chirp from air conditioned suites or, in the realm of action sports, often from the bottom of the course. Not so with Claudio.
We’re not sure what’s faster: Claudio’s heart rate, his running mouth or his bike. In this RedBull edit, he chases professional downhiller Manon Carpenter through the Fort William course, the 2015 World Cup’s longest — and arguably toughest — stop. Caluori’s undeniably mastered the art of multitasking as he completes the course wreck-free, even passing Manon in the process.
The Scottish course boasts speeds over 40 miles per hour (resulting in over five G’s of force), a speed that’s best summarized by Caluori: “This is wrong! This is wrong! This is out of control!”
Commentator of the year, hands down.
