Double-digit storm totals are racking up across the US, and those who aren’t already getting after it are waxing boards, daydreaming, crying and/or watching snowboard movies in anticipation.
One of the year’s best flicks, Transworld SNOWboarding’s Origins, offers a fresh take on the snowboard movie—a canon rife with predictability. Instead of following the standard (albeit tired) script of shredding set to music, the film focuses on five storied locations – Hokkaido, Japan; Whistler, Canada; Quebec, Canada; Mammoth, USA; and The Alps; France – as well as the riders that call these snowy meccas home. But don’t worry—there are plenty of bangers in Origins; it just has a welcome addition of history, too.
Three pro snowboarders represent each of the five locations. Here’s the impressive cast:
Japan: Kazu Kokubo, Kohei Kudo, Teddy Koo
France: Arthur Longo, Victor Daviet, Victor De Le Rue
Whistler: Rusty Ockenden, Matt Belzile, Chris Rasman
Quebec: Frank Bourgeois, Jason Dubois, Jeremy Cloutier
Mammoth: Kimmy Fasani, John Jackson, Eric Jackson
Even if you don’t stream the hour-long flick, the teaser’s enough to get pumped for the season ahead.
