PrAna is renowned among yogis and climbers for the consistent quality of their apparel and accessories. However, until Active Junky testers had prAna’s cotton-based garb within our grasp, we failed to comprehend such mind-boggling softness and comfort. These three prAna pieces shone forth during anti-gravitational arm balances and whenever societal gravities didn’t condemn a tank top and hoodie combo.
Advertised as a “yoga layering hoodie,” we’ll add to that description: “drafty apartment hoodie,” “dog walking hoodie,” “casual date hoodie,” along with our personal favorite, “this-is-so-comfortable-can-I-wear-it-to-work hoodie.” Heathered French terry material retained that “new sweatshirt” feel after brisk outdoor yoga sessions and laundry cycles. Testers gave the Hughes a sun salutation not simply for coziness, but for the reverse-stitch design accented by the off-color drawcord and stylish slim fit.
Best For: Yoga. Or not.
The Throttle gunned it from the get-go. Sweat-prone testers perspired through difficult poses in the tank, grateful for the polyester (40%) interwoven with the comfort of cotton (60%). While passersby complement the subtle striped style of the Throttle, you’ll be focused on its incredible softness; visualize getting a gentle back massage from a skulk of baby foxes. Cosmic visions aside, Throttle doesn’t hold back on skin-loving fabric.
Best For: Aside from yoga – climbing, dancing, eating, sleeping, (any word with an “–ing”)
prAna Sutra Short Starting at: $57.26
While the Sutra’s hemp and cotton blend is coarser to the touch than the tank and hoodie, a pinch of Lycra adds a welcome stretch. Unhinging hips for modified down dogs or snagging a heel hook was never easier (or more stylish). The drawstring comfortably cinched securely without letting go even during tough vinyasa sessions. Dual front patch pockets, a back patch pocket and a long, relaxed fit solidify the Sutra as a smart off-the-mat pick.
Best For: Vinyasa flows, climbing, casual wear.
