According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, tracking an individual’s genetic makeup leads to insight on how they metabolize foods differently. Gene CYP1A2 connects with caffeine, making some java lovers laggards when it comes to metabolizing it, with the potential for higher blood pressure. Sodium? Watch for the ACE gene that generates a regulating enzyme. While you likely won’t get the green light to consume Hot Pockets from your test results, there’s much to be learned by reading more here.
