The Making of a Dirt Blizzard

The Making of a Dirt Blizzard

For skiers and surfers, natural forces and weather patterns predicate session quality. A forecast with a heavy swell or a big snowfall sparks a sense of urgency. Like predators on the hunt, we emerge from the woodwork, ready to rip and savor a rare and welcome bounty.

We mountain bikers deal with rain, sure. After the puddles evaporate and the mud thickens, the dirt is tacky and the trails are prime. Yet, there’s no comparable feeling in the pedaling world to a snowboarder waking up to 2 feet of fresh or a surfer scoping season-high swell from the bluffs.

At least until now.

TGR, once again, makes dirt-lovers’ dreams come true. In this clip from unReal, flakes drift down from the heavens (not really), cloaking perfectly shaped berms and jumps in a couple inches of slashable brown pow.

Be sure to check out this behind the scenes video, too. It shows the time intensive process, from selecting the right “dirt” and jerry-rigging leaf blowers to setting up each shot with Tarantino-meets-TGR precision.

Makes you wish that “dirt storms” were actually a thing.
