No name is more synonymous with fast and light alpinism than that of Ueli Steck. For the past decade, the legendary Swiss climber has blazed up notorious routes unroped, knocking down record after record.
In the summer of 2015, Steck decided to up the ante; instead of focusing on one peak at a time, he sought out to climb all 82 of the 4000+meter mountains in the Swiss Alps in under 80 days. Not only that, Ueli & Co. would only be using human-powered modes of transportation, relying on road bikes to travel between the highest peaks of Switzerland, France and Italy.
Steck and his partner Michi Wohlleben, along with the support of Daniel Mader, accomplished this lofty goal in a mellow 62 days. Watch part one from the series below
