For years, Xavier De Le Rue’s been changing the landscape of snowboarding, much like tectonic plates do the big mountains on which he’s so dominant. His latest adventure is totally off the Richter, as Xavier, fellow snowboarder Ralph Backstrom and skier Sam Anthamatten drop in to heavy Alaskan lines using an unprecedented method.
Operating custom rigs, the high-flying crew is able to rocket over towering peaks before dropping into lines with speed. Needless to say, the experiment didn’t go off without a few tumbles.
It’s crazy to see how such an outlandish idea was manifested into reality. In this day and age, it seems, the sky really is the limit.
