You might know DC mainly for their skate shoes and snowboard boots, but DC’s actually been building snowboards for almost a decade (sheesh, that makes us feel old!). These days, they’re lacing up a dirty team of pro riders like Torstein Horgmo and Devun Walsh with fresh and relatively affordable decks. In fact, it was Finnish phenom Iikka Backstrom who poured R&D hours into the development of the Space Echo. The name evokes visions of a sci-fi future—and if you’ve ever seen Iikka rip, that’s not a far-off assessment of this deck’s capabilities. A stiff flex and traditional camber profile mean that the Space Echo is ready for lift-off—it blasts off the lip like an elite NASA rocket while a directional shape helps to dodge through the inevitable early season meteor fields.
Why We’re Stoked: We tested last year’s version of this and were blown away by the ollie power. Hopefully that longitudinal snap remains for 2017/18.
