The waxed cotton shoelaces add to the casual retro look of these OluKai women’s boots, while the practical side zipper makes for easy on and off. The toe features subtle broguing, (which we admittedly had to look up to learn that they are decorative perforations commonly found in men’s dress shoes - there’s your trivia fodder for the day!). The Nani Kamea sports a low stacked leather heel, while the rest of the outsole is a hybrid of classic leather with rubber traction pads, giving you slip-resistance that most dress shoes don’t offer. Their removable EquiFit dual-density leather-lined polyurethane footbed provides a nice amount of arch support and comfort. We mostly just love the retro look of the contrasting leather pattern, while these still manage to feel like a modern, functional take on the classic dress boot. We tested the brown Rum color, but they also have black if you are looking for something a little darker.
Field Notes: The OluKai Nani Kameas aren't trying to compete with rugged performance boots; instead they sit comfortably in the high-quality, comfortable, and gorgeous corner. We tested them as such, taking them on plenty of date nights and dinner parties where they could do what they do best - gather tons of compliments while tying your whole outfit together. Their resistance to water is standard for a quality leather boot, but they weren’t designed to stand up against a lot of precipitation, especially as it accumulates on the ground.
Tester Comments: “These women’s boots are nothing short of luxurious. The leather smells so good, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. If you're committed to the upkeep, they will resist water wear as any quality leather will. I wouldn't take them on any wild excursions, but they would perform exceptionally well pounding the cobbled streets of your European city of choice, without pegging you as a typical American."
