Salomon Hime Mid LTR CSWP

Waterproof split-suede leather is both functional and looks great, and when paired with Salomon’s Climashield construction, you’ll be set to keep trudging through any slushy conditions you may encounter. A gusseted tongue helps to keep water and snow out, while 200 grams of Thinsulate insulation make these a great winter boot for when the temperature takes a nosedive. The rigidity of the footbed aids in powering through icy snow or rocky terrain. From there the base, or booty section, of these women’s boots remains moderately structured, but then starts to switch from rigid to flexible at the ankle to provide increased movement. The taller shaft gives a little extra support while helping combat taller snow banks. 

While there are plenty of technical features that make these winter boots appealing, there are also thoughtful details that add visual interest. The wool rib cuff is basically a cozy sweater for your ankles, and contrast stitching creates an attractive looping pattern on the upper portion of the boot. Faux fur on the inside of the tongue adds an extra level of comfort. They’re available in both the brown color that we tested, as well as a black-with-grey option.

Field Notes: In water tests these boots did well at repelling moisture until submerged up to the break in the tongue. So waterproof in three inches of water, but water resistant at four. Due to the extra-warm insulation, we took these casual boots into snowy and freezing conditions as well. The Salomon Himes excelled at trapping heat and insulating your feet from the cold.
