Nearly Naked:  Packaged Food Companies Strip Away Ingredients To Stay Relevant

Prompted by a recent feature in the Wall Street Journal, Active Junky’s in the hunt for the five-ingredient products starting to migrate to U.S. grocery shelves. Even the big companies like General Mills and ConAgra are responding to research conducted by Packaged Facts that found 87% of consumers claimed they look at nutrition labels. And over two-thirds preferred foods with a shorter list of less-complex ingredients in the products themselves. This applies from nut butters to colas, with snack foods and breakfast cereals in the cross-hairs as well. While it sounds easy, creating stay-fresh products that still taste good is difficult at best.
